Salt Lake City, Utah

Okay, let me catch my breath. What the hell is in the water in SLC? These people are off the chain! First let me start by saying that my day off was a total loss. Jack Daniels is no joke. I spent the whole day off trying to find out how to get the television into the bathroom where the toilet was. Yuck! Icky! and I don't remember eating that:-}

Showday: We were here 3 years ago, and the gig was great. So we were all geek to be back. The gig is outside in a beautiful botanical garden (complete with rattle snakes), a couple of the guys saw one just hanging out around the dressing room area (I don't think he had a ticket so he had to go:-}). The audience is right up on you here, and that makes the gig feel very intimate. The good folks of SLC were ready to party. The whole band picked up on the energy from the start. There are times when we surprise ourselves, and this was one of those times. Over the past two shows we have come across a new way of playing a couple of old songs. For you long time fans of Bruce's live shows, you know how restless my boy is. And some of the best thing we play live, were things that just came to him in the middle of a song. Well, while at sound check today, we were just messing around and it happened! Yet another version of Valley Road. How many ways do we play this song now? Can anyone tell me? We play this song so many different ways that when Bruce started it tonight like the record, I did not recognize it. And that's the truth.:-{ Another song with a new twist is Jacobs Ladder. These two new arrangements (and I use this term loosely) are so much fun to play.

We also dusted off another oldie but goodie. Look Out Any Window, it was fun playing this again (the first this leg). From the first song of the night the energy of the crowd just kept building, it felt amazing from the stage. At one point after a song Bruce looked over and said "what do we do now?", I just shrugged my shoulders, I sure didn't have a clue.

On Rainbows, Bruce once again invited the lovely ladies (picture me saying this in my best Barry White voice:-}), to the stage. There was such a rush that I had to climb onto Sonny's drum riser. These lady's wanted to dance, and dance they did. Wow! I've always wanted to see what the dance party looked like from the audience. This one was "crazy good", you people of SLC, whew! Is it always like this? And if so, I want to party wit yall. (This is 'hood speak at it's best):-}.

About 4 songs into the second set, the good people of SLC were standing and dancing all over the place. And thanks to security for letting the folks have a good time. Thank you Red Butte! I hope it's not 3 more years before we are back. This is truly a very special place for us. I am now totally exhausted and happy.

We have a couple of weeks off, and I am starting to get excited about the next leg. If it's anything like this onem look out back east, here we come. Until then, I am going to play golf, tennis, basketball and lift weights (there's nothing like resting up):-}

If something funny happens, it will make into the diary. But, I don't want to bore anyone with my everyday crap. For those that make it to the site, I will still answer all e-mails.

Thanks for your support, I want you all to come back safe, we will see you in a couple of weeks.

Peace and chicken grease:-} , (sorry, another saying from the 'hood).
