Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC
Hey guys,
First I want to give a shout out to all my little peeps from the Asheville show. Especially little Alex - this little dude knew the lyrics to every Bruce song. I think he was 6 years old. Judging by the number of kids at this show, we will have fans for years to come. Thanks little homey's for coming to our show.
And I cannot forget my big peeps:-) You guys at the "Biltmoe" are off the chain! This was truly a magical night. I had a feeling that this show would be special by the people that I met before the show started. As soon as we hit the stage, the crowd was into it. I could not believe the roar from you guys. From the first note of Candy Mountain Run I could tell that the band was feeling it. This place is just beautiful in every way.
Bruce was in rare form and the band just fell in step. We also had a couple of special guests. The first one was Debbie Henry. Debbie use to sing with the band when I first came aboard, and we were all excited to hear that Bruce had extended an invitation for her to sit in with us. Debbie did not disappoint anyone. Her voice is as strong as ever and she jacked up each song with her vocal energy. It felt like old times with Debbie on the band stand. Next up came Joe Lee. Joe sang on a couple of songs from the Hothouse album, and he Bruce are old friends. Joe brings this real deep gospel/ soul thang :-) to the music. He has such a soulful voice, and Joe really killed Big Rumble. Just a powerful voice.
The night for me had a really great vibe to it. At one point I am standing on stage facing the "Biltmoe House" and the band had lights behind us. Well, these lights caused us to throw shadows on the house. I could see my shadow on the house and I started thinking about Count Dracula (not in a bad way, it was way cool). And then watching the lighting circle the venue was exciting. But the best part for me, was watching this big orange moon rise. The moon seem to rise from the hills in the background. It almost took my breath away.
We have played this venue four times now and this was the best of them all. Thanks to all of you for saying hello. I love speaking to each and everyone of you. I want to also say thanks for supporting the site. I love hearing how much you guys enjoy the diary.
I am excited about the next gig in Charlottesville, VA. I hope we have a few more surprises for the people. I guess I should try to get some sleep for tonight's show.
Stay safe and lets hang again soon,
JV
