Charlottesville, VA

Hello everyone,

It is I! Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman :-) We have just finished the Charlottesville stage. I’m feel funky, fresh and new. Another great show. Once again we were treated to a visit from another old friend; John Dearth graced the stage this time. John, like Debbie Henry, was in the band when I first came aboard. John is a fantastic trumpet player and he sounded great. But more than anything, I miss John’s spirit. He is one of the really nice people of the world. It was great spending time with John after the show. Speaking of the show, the gig was at a venue that was recently remodelled and we are one of the first groups to perform at the new version. From the first note at sound check was knew that this was going to be a tough show for us. I think the sound in the house was okay. But the stage sound was bad. Bruce had a hard time hearing the band from where he was sitting and this makes it really hard, because we depend on being able to hear each other for the vibe. These are the kind of shows that separate the boys from the men, the girls from the women, the ducks from the... you know what I’m saying :-) Bruce just dug in like the jock he is and we went for it. It was hard work, but in the end we all felt good about the finished job.

The show was good, but I think the audience and the band were feeling a little restricted. Sometimes the venue makes it hard for the band to play a good show. They seem to put the audience on lock down. It’s a little frustrating for us to look out and see you guys ready to party, but then having the man shut you down :-( So, when you finally bust out, we love it.

Charlottesville! You busted out last night. Dancing in the aisles, cats and dogs living together. Oops, that’s another movie. For real, you guys were great. The gig felt like a party.

And now I have a question for you. We love performing in the Virginia area because we get to hang with one of our favorite people, Carey. For those of you that don’t know, Carey bakes her behind off. She almost always brings her famous pound cake to a gig.

Now, I don’t eat sweets, but the rest of the guys are fighting each other for a piece of this cake. Well, this morning one of the guys cuts a big hunk of cake for breakfast, which is cool. But, he then pours Jack Daniels over the top. First, it is before noon, and second, this is something that I’ve never heard of. I am the king of Jack, but that was the first time I’ve ever heard of Jack Daniels over a piece of cake. Do you eat cake with Jack over the top?

I am just a sheltered little bassist. Take care good folks. I’ll holla’ at you in a couple of days. It’s time for me to get my work out on. I’m up to 5 minutes on the treadmill and 25 pounds on the bench press. I feel like Arnold.

I’LL BE BACK!!!!!!!

Peace, way down deep in the groove that is The Noisemakers :-)
