September 4 2005 - Atlantic City, NJ
Hey dudes and dudettes,
We have just finished a great show in AC. Once again we were in soundcheck and having a good time, when it happened. We were playing around and a new idea came to life. This band is amazing when it comes to jumping on an idea. Bruce will play something and one guy in the band will pick it up, followed by another until it feels like a snow ball rolling down a hill. Last night was another snow ball.
I have performed in AC since the early 80’s and until last night I found the city to be boring. Well, it is not boring anymore. The city is starting to grow up. We played at a new House of Blues venue, just two months old. The audience had energy about it from the start. Before we head to the stage, there were a pile of requests. That let us know that we had a crowd that had an idea of what we were about. From the first song, it was on.
Friday was a day off for us and that meant Golf for me. :-) I was in heaven and had a good time on the links. But, the next day was a whole different thing. I awoke to a pain in my side that would not let me breathe. I could hardly walk. So, when we started playing the energy made everything feel good.
One thing I would like to mention. We notice when security gets a little too hyped when doing there jobs. Last night I notice that security would not put a couple of request on the stage, which was separated by barrier. I wish these guys would just think for a second. It does not take a lot to take a request and put it on the stage. I called one of our guys over, pointed the guy out and ask him to get his request. All was right with this guy’s world, we even did his request.
I’ve said it before. We watch you as much as you watch us :-) the crowd was once again with us and we rocked and jazzed until the last second. Bob came out and played with us on Black Muddy River, and the audience went wild. Bruce sits in with Ratdog, and I think the audience loves it too. Tomorrow is the last show for a while, and this is a bitter-sweet moment in every tour. There is the excitement of going home to loved ones, but you will miss your road family and the moments that happen on stage. This year we made a lot of memories and met a bunch of good people. I hope to see all of you the next time we roll into you spot. I’ll be in touch with stories from other tours and artist. I hope you find it all as interesting and funny as this one was.
Peace and I’ll let you know how Albany goes.
