The summer is over and we are on hold for a while. When we are not working with Bruce, we have to find work with other bands. I am fine with working with whomever will give me a check:-) I would rather work with Bruce but, the bills gotta be paid. This past week I did a show with The Pointer Sisters in Orlando, FL. It's a good band and they are really nice people. But, it's not Bruce and the cats.
This was a private show for some business people. I've been playing "corporate" shows since the mid 80's, and they are all the same. Most of the people don't know who you are or care, and the other half are afraid to let their hair down in front of the big boss man. This makes for a very un-even show. The best thing about the gig was the hotel. We stayed at The Hard Rock in Orlando, and Motley Crue were there also. I met Vince Neil, and man the rock and roll girls aint bull-jiving:-) It was like a fashion show for underwear. I was very impressed. (Sorry ladies for being such a pig:-D ). But Damn!!
The gig was cool, but I miss my boys. The shows are pretty straight and not any of the unpredictability that The Noisemakers attempt to play. But, like I said before, I gotta pay bills:-D
On a good note, I landed today at 9:30 AM and hit the golf course at noon. No warm up, no driving range and no clue. I spent more time in the woods than George of The Jungle. On every hole, it was "Watch Out For That Tree!" Left, right, left. At one hole, I hit the perfect drive. I'm only 100 yards away form birdie on a par 5. I then roll my second shot 90 yards into the sand trap (ouch!) I get out in one, but the ball rolls past the hole. I now have to put down hill about 30 feet. Of course I miss the put and triple bogey the hole. I suck;-) I need to give this game a rest. I am stupid to keep doing this to myself. Oh well, my tee time tomorrow is 9 in the morning. It's like crack, and I am a golf crack whore. :-D I will give free lessons for a tee time. Yikes!
Just a Swingin and a Missin, from somewhere deep in the weeds.
Peace, JV
