West Palm Beach, FL
Hello everyone,
It’s been a while and I am sorry for that.. My work load has been off the chain :) (I’ve been very, very busy). (Si's note: the past few weeks delay has been solely down to me)
Some good things are coming my way and I am very excited about it. As most of you know, Bruce and The Noisemakers are gearing up for a couple of summer runs. We have played a few private shows, but nothing like this past weekend.
Friday night we are in West Palm Beach, Fl.
What a great night. We played a festival. The weather was great, and we were excited. As you all also know, we once again had to do a show without Sonny. Our guest drummer on Friday was great. (way to go Oscar). This time JT made the call and found another young drum freak Oscar Seaton. Oscar came in and just killed the gig. Oscar is not only a great drummer but also a great guy. He fit right in from the top with the rest of this nutty crew :)
Bruce met Oscar a few weeks ago at a private show in Palm Springs and that was it.. When we hit the stage in WPB I am sure he did not know what to expect. But when the night was over, we were all smiling from ear to ear.. We also had a visit from another one of our stand in drummers before the show. Land Richards was playing with Michael Bolton on another stage at the same festival. It is always great seeing Land. He had us all laughing and talking trash.
We had the stage and like always the band sounded like we were in the middle of a tour. The crowd was dancing and swaying. It is such a kick to look out into a crowd and see the music putting smiles on faces. When we have replacement drummers, my job gets a little harder. These guys depend on me for guidance thru the songs, So I become the human music chart. I have to remember to tell the drummers what is coming next, what Bruce wants and when the end is coming. This is a hard job. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes not :( Sometimes while making sure the drummer is in the right place or playing the right stuff, I play the wrong thing. (What a drag).
But, I’m down with whatever the band needs… And we had a wonderful night. As we were leaving the stage to go back to our hotel, I met a drummer who was knocked out by Oscar’s playing. He just kept saying how powerful Oscar and I sounded as a unit. That made my day.. I love to hear that the drummer and I are holding it down and making a contribution. WE WAS PLAYIN’ MUSIC!
I don’t know if this show was taped. But if it is, try to get a copy. It’s worth it.
