May 6 2006 Memphis, TN. Okay, this is the hard part about doing back to back shows while not on a tour bus. We had to be in the lobby of our hotel at 5:15 AM (ouch!) The bartender of our hotel in WPB was very generous with the Jack Daniels. I felt like a group of tap dancing moose were on top of my head, and my mouth felt like someone had poured sand down my throat. (I’m way too old for this stuff). We arrived in Memphis at 12:00 noon. Thank goodness our show was not until 8:45 PM. We played a festival called Memphis in May. There were some great acts on the bill. George Clinton and Parliament, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley and Huey Lewis and The News. Bruce and Huey are good friends. While waiting to go on Huey and a couple of the guys came into our trailer to visit. We had a great time. The day was kind of gloomy. It rained off and on during our set but, that did nothing to dampen the spirit of the crowd. Sonny was back for this show and we were all excited to play this show. Our first song was Sunflower Cat and it was smoking from the first note. Unfortunately there were sound problems and it took a few songs for the crew to fix them. But being the wily veterans that we are :) The show must go on. Sonny sounded great and Bruce was doing his thang;-) (hood speak) . The audience was with us and it felt great. I just love this band. (Miss Doug thinks that I am selling out to corporate America) I’m looking a little too preppy these days. But, other than that, it was a good show. I am really excited about this summer. I cannot wait to see all of you. Lets get ready to Big Rumble! I am supposed to go on tour this summer with Sade. I don’t know how many of you are fans of hers. But I am looking forward to her tour.
