July 14, Portland, OR.

Allllll-RIGHTTTTT PORTLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

onight was a special one. What a show. At the sound check we learned a song from the first record, The Wild Frontier. This is a rocker with a groove and Bruce wanted to do it tonight, Ouch!!!!!!!!!! Like I've said before, "You better be ready for anything on this gig".

The crowds at this show are always fun. We get a kick out this bunch. There's always a lot of energy and dancing, just a great vibe. We hit the stage running. You could tell from the first song, "Circus On The Moon", that the night would be great. Once again the band hit new heights and re-worked some of our arrangements on the spot. We got into some great stuff. It was fun for me to look out and see all of those smiling faces.

We had a special guest also. We played two sets and before we went on for the second one, a person came to ask if she could Hoola Hoop on a song. Bruce is always game for something so, without hesitation he said okay. Well, on King Of The Hill, out comes the queen of the hoola hoop;-) All sparkly and shinning. I don't know how many people in crowd were digging it but, it sure entertained us. I even got a chance to SHAKE MY TAIL FEATHER with the lady.. Yeah!!!!!! It's me! Mean Gene the dancing machine.

We always love this venue. The Portland Zoo. I wonder if the animals like our music? Would the zebra do a jig? Can the big cats dance? Is it just me or am I sounding pretty stupid? I guess we all agree that this part of the note is stupid. Well, lets move on. We also had a day off here. And this is a great city. I love sitting around Pioneer Square:-) A lovely place to people watch... Yes! I am watching you. So beware.

We went to the movies yesterday. It was a great two days in Portland. You rock, Portland. And now it's on to Washington. We are playing tomorrow at a place that was one of our favorites for a few years. But, I think our audience was a little too wild for the venue folks. I think the stage dancing freaked them out and they banned us for a couple of years:-) Yes! This is rock and roll at it's best. And now all we need is to destroy a hotel room and get arrested;-) I can't wait to hear what rules will be in place for us. The last time we played here, a young woman ran on stage to touch Bruce and she beat up two of our crew guys:-) (you guys know who you are). That was fun to watch.... Hey! How about a rematch? Well, that's all for now. I'll see you tomorrow in Seattle..

Goodnight to my peeps...... Yall know who you are!!!!!!!!!
