July 17, Boise, ID.
Hello!!!!!!! Boise!!!!!!
Two nights in Boise, ID. and all is well. We had a day off here and everyone had a ball. Yesterday 5 of us went out to play golf. It was 103 degrees:-( For the first 9 holes I was Tiger, Phil and Jack, for the last 9 I was Manny, Mo and Jack:-) Yikes! It was ugly ladies and gentleman. It got so bad that I scored a plus 13 on a par 3.......... The sun beat my ass down... I would like to lie and tell you that I was the bomb but, I would have to get rid of the witnesses;-) Well we are going out again tomorrow. I'm gonna kill that little white ball.
Okay! I guess you want to hear about the show. Well here we go!
Tonight we played a small cozy venue called Eagle Knoll Winery. Bruce mentioned more that once that it felt like we were playing a backyard cookout. This is not a bad thing. We talked about which way we were going to approach this show. and we came up with playing the hits from top to bottom. Starting with The Way It Is. We even played Every Little Kiss.. Yikes! The audience loved it. There were people in lawn chairs, people dancing and people grooving. The more we played, the better we sounded. The night was not so great for me. I had some serious monitor problems. When things like this happen I try not to let it effect the show but, this was hard to get past.
After an hour and a half of hits. Bruce told the audience that we had played enough hits and now we were going to take them on a different path. And BOOM! We were off. The crowd was more that willing to come with us. We hit the crowd with Spider Fingers into Tighten Up into an Ornette song and then into TTT and back to Spider. It was great. Sonny was awesome once again. JT was great, Doug played a couple of great solos. Bruce was in rare form. He was more into riparian rights than playing music:-) Bruce was shocked that more people knew riparian rights than Keith Jarrett. It was all over my head:-( I just want play music...
Bruce thought that half the crowd wished he would shut up and play too:-) ( that's what he told me to write).
And now we are sitting on the bus waiting for the crew. We have a very long ride tonight and I'm thinking of getting drunk to make
the ride shorter (yeah! I'm getting drunk because I like it). I hope you guys are ready for the next episode. We sure are:-) So "Here Come The Noisemakers", are you ready? I said. Are you ready?
Here we come, walking down the street......... Hey, Hey! we're the Mon......................
Peace and Chicken Grease,
