July 23 - Mission Viejo, CA
Hello Gang!
This is the last diary for the first leg of the tour. We were in Mission Viejo California. Playing at a man made lake in the middle of a beautiful city 80 miles north of San Diego.
First off! It was Africa hot in this mickey-fickey:-) Sonny and I went out for lunch at around noon and the temperature gage on the mini said 105 degrees. Yikes! I was starting to feel like a chicken pot pie:-) And judging by the way Sonny was peeking over at me, I think that he saw me as a chicken pot pie;-) That little dude can eat...... Anyway.
My head was starting to melt like a Milk Dud. So there would be no mid day run for me. We were told that this would be a private affair but, that was not the real deal. This show was mainly for those good peeps who live in Mission Viejo or (Vi-jo as Bruce called it a few times) area. There were folks having dinner on the water in boats and the whole thing was so romantic. The only problem that I have with people sitting behind us on those boats is this. They have a great view of our butts.:-( I don't know about some of you but, I hate thinking about strangers looking at my butt. (I don't want to look at my butt) but hey, those were the cards we were dealt;-) Some one is reading this and thinking. "Why won't he write about the show and shut up about all of this other crap?"; I don't blame you.
The show turned out to be really great. When we first saw the stage and the seating area, the thought was,"This is going to be a hard gig". But it turned out to be just the opposite. The audience was into the Noisemaker experience. We had our usual request, and we tried to do the best of playing them. We also had three little girls who came on stage to sing happy birthday to a friend. (I thought of them as the little Supremes). We had a great night musically. Sonny was off the chain. I love playing with him. Bruce was doing the captain of the ship thang! He was throwing the band all over the lake;-) We were dancing with the stars;-) I know it's a cheap attempt for a laugh but, we were outside and there were stars so, deal with it:-)
After the show some old and new friends came aboard the bus for a few laughs. It was great seeing these guys and we always have a good time when they come around. And the after a small drink it was time to go home. On the way home I made a stop at the airport hotel to drop off Sonny. It was a great night and we had the windows open and the t-top open on the Mini. And it was old school soul night again. The Temptations, The Whispers, Al Green and Parliament Funkadelic to name a few. GOOD VIBES DUDES AND DUDETTES:-) A very nice way to head into a break.
And now it's on to the golf game. I am invited to play with a very special group of guys this week. I don't want to say names but, this is like a dream come true. I am hoping that I won't choke and screw the pooch on each hole. I'll let you know how it goes. So, my friends, lets all stay safe and healthy. I'll see you in Atlanta. Get ready ATL. because, HERE COME THE NOISEMAKERS ;-)
Ain't no thang like a G thang baby!
