August 15 - Knoxville, TN
First off, I want to say that Knoxville is off the chain:-) You guys are in a different groove. And I mean that in a good way. We played tonight at a great old venue. It was wonderful. Having said all of that, let me tell you that tonight was one of those nights that I would not want to wish on a snake. What ever could go wrong went wrong for me. The monitor system went bad at the start of one song, and then at the start of the second half of the show my cord was not plugged into the bass. I was having a day from hell. But, even with all of the problems the show was great. This crowd had a great vibe to it from the top. We were allowed to take a lot of adventures and the audience really came along. There were people giving us standing ovations almost after every song. I've never seen that before.
Tonight was special. I kind of figured that the audience would be good but, they surpassed my expectations by a mile. We had a day off and I walked around the city a little. What I found was a city with a lot of different musics going on all over. A perfect place for a band like the Noisemakers.
We love to stretch the limits of our music and the good people of Knoxville streched right along with us. It was also great to see that Si made it across the pond.
Tonight Bruce sung his ass off on Fields Of Gray. And Sonny played an amazing drum solo in the middle of Spider Fingers (even by his standards).
Some you may know that I was born in Tennnessee and lived here until 10 years old. I have lots of relatives here including a sister and I never knew that Tennessee was so hip. I was very proud.
After the show I had a chance to speak with a few of you from the stage. Thanks for the support of the web site after all, it belongs to all of us. It's really a good feeling seeing your face and hearing you comments. You are the bomb(don't call TSA, it's just a figure of speech).
And now we are off to Bartlett, just outside of Memphis. I can only hope that Bartlett can live up to Knoxville. I've also got to mention this. There was an old cemetary across the street from the venue. I checked out some of the head stones and there was one that listed a pereson death as 1809. This blew my mind. We are all just passing time.......
Having said that.. Let's have a great time in Bartlett, Tennessee. Are ready to roll and you? We will see you soon Knoxville. You go! With your bad self! All Orange......... GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's shameless but, I'm not above being shameless;-)
Su, Su, Su-De-Oh!!!!!!!!!!!
Peace,
JV
